Gone But Not Forgotten

When I first looked into your big brown eyes
I knew I had to take you home ...make you mine
I treated you kind my friend
I spoke to you often
You liked it...I could tell
By the fierce wagging of your tail.

I never left you out in the rain
Knowing it would cause you great pain
I always loved it when you sat at my feet
Was my greatest pleasure you...your toy,Squeaky Pete

I watered you so you would never suffer from thirst
You always walked by my side protecting me from danger
We have had so many good years
I know now...the reason for my tears

When you had a litter of five
To our utter surprise
Unfortunately it started with eight
The Lord gave us three by mistake

We loved the five just the same
gave each of them a name
Once again the tears did start...
as I knew each one would have to part

Now as you grow old my dear
Tis a desicion...
I would not give to my best friend!
To know your life...I must put to an end

LORD... I ask You desperately
That You take her so gently
She has been my lifetime friend
My love for her has no end
With you....she will play, jump, run
Once again will have her fun

I know now you are safe
In a much better place
You have your long lost friends
Ready to play with you again
