The Essence

FOR CADENCE

I AM THE ESSENCE
of smallness and helplessness,
and my world is propelled by shadows.

I see them and I know they are there.
They touch me and I know I am here.

The world is all brand new;
and there is awe in every sensation!

There is joy in every experience!
being held,
being talked to,
being played with.

I see wonder in loving eyes
and joy in loving faces.
I feel tenderness in every touch.

YES, I THINK I'M GOING TO LIKE IT HERE!!

When I Look In The Mirror


When I look into the mirror, I see...
A little girl staring back at me
Wondering where did time go...
When was I allowed to grow

When time stood still...
Not allowing anything real
I see that little girl pleading with me..
Asking what happened...Can't you see

I wanted to run, play, even shout
Asking why I had to doubt...
Wondering how it was taken away
Pleading with all to let me stay!

When I look into the mirror...
What do I see...
A very tired soul
Looking back at me.

Knowing I had let the child down...
Silently wanting to remove her frown
Holding her inside...Wiping her tears
Terribly sorry for all the lost years.

Today, I look in the mirror...
What do I see...
A very strong woman...
Staring back at me!

Has rid herself of dreams and remorse
Trying to stay on track
With a purpose... A true course
Promising this will not happen again
THE DEMONS ARE FINALLY COMING TO AN END!!
